iphone

I am thinking of getting an iphone now that the older model is only $99 dollars. I was just wondering how much apps for the iphone run and if the phone rates are higher than a regular plan. So how do you guys like your iphones?

Just to make sure people read this and respond ... boobies.

just now i was pricing out a new Ipod Touch. for $299 I can get the 16Gb one...

my friends who all once bought iPhones have all moved onto blackberries, so i can't really offer much more experience than that.

Blue-footed Boobies?

Also: i've been doing the general shun thing (not that i can afford one in the first place)of because last i heard they force you to use AT&T & i refuse to give moneys to Evil Empires.

Is there a cellphone company that isn't an Evil Empire? Or at least one that has nationwide coverage?

Probably not. The closest i have come so far is Virgin Mobile's Pay-as-you-Go which saves me from being tied to a contract (and is considerably cheaper than paying a monthy amount). i can get away with this because i do not rely heavily on my cellphone. It's pretty much there so schools can call me when one of my kids have exploded (in the case of Benjamin), run away (in the case of Josh), or is sick (in the case of Zander). That & some texting. i'm also trying out the pay-as-you-go phones that are available at Kroger which use the Sprint network but i've been pretty annoyed with the low-end phone i got so i'm not sure that i'll stay with it.

I already have an account with the evil empire since they ate up Cingular. I previously had an account with AT&T that I dropped because they screwed up the billing but I just stayed with them because my service with Sprint was sucktastic and I forgot why I was annoyed with Verizon.

Apps for the iPhone run lots. If you mean how much they cost, that's variable depending on the producer and nature of the app. I've spent money on about two apps, and have the following on my iPod Touch:

Evernote client: free
Twitteriffic: free (ad-supported)
Remote for iTunes: free
Remote for Keynote: $3 or something ridiculous
WifiRemote Lite: free
VLC Remote: $1
IM+ Lite (MSN, Yahoo, etc.): free
Files Lite: free
1Password client: free

Tap tap revenge (guitar hero for iPhone): free
Dice applications for roleplaying: free
TouchTerm ssh client: free
Various games, including tower defence, solitaire, rogue, pinball: free
Lonely Planet San Francisco: free (was a special offer)

Plus there's literally hundreds of apps on the store that you can buy, depending on what you want.

Regarding pricing, I don't believe that iPhone rates would be any different from normal rates. Your only restriction is that iPhones are only sold with AT&T. And I do believe that Apple is ruing their decision to go exclusive now.
