Are people seriously this upset about the death of the Crocodile Hunter? Prior to this, I'd only heard him spoken of in terms of it being unbelievable he hadn't been killed by animals yet.

I think most people are stunned that he was killed because he's fairly young, and we always see him dealing with dealing with dangerous animals with careful ease.
it's just weird to see someone die who works with life/death animal situations all the time. it's even more weird that he was killed by a typically docile and harmless animal.
nobody expected it.

Are you kidding about the "dealing with dangerous animals with careful ease" part? From what I remember, he was a bit of a roughhouser with the animals.

well, he didn't shoot them?
he did WRASSLE them though, and you're right, that isn't gentle (or cuddling)

I personally was shocked by HOW he died! Stingray?!?!? I thought it would have at least been a snake, croc, falling off a ledge, or something!

I think what it is is that he was genuinely dedicated to what he did and to saving animals, conservation, etc. It's rare that we really see people like this anymore. It seems that way to me, at least. It's pretty crappy.
