Hee! Thanks. The idea of little soot-smeared Will handing over some little doodad, all proud of himself, is just so adorable. I bet James couldn't resist it, either.

I love Will recalling how Norrington treated him as a child. I suspect young teenage Will probably had a crush on the guy, either of the gay variety or simply a man-crush, depending on his depth of feeling.

Thanks! Oh yes, Will definitely adored James at some point. They're too much alike for him not to!

eeek, that is so sweet! *squoozes fic*

poor James. *also hugs him*

and I love how you've written Will! v. v. much IC. also James. but very few people get Will right, so I think that deserves more of a mention. ^_^

::fic is squoozed::

Will is really hard, but you know what? He's mostly like James, just... huskier. Except it's more complicated and subtle than that. But still, the similarities between them are enormous.

I started researching Will sometime last fall and got very nervous so I didn't write the fic I had planned. I'm glad my first serious attempt went well!

HOMG need turrington icon >.<

Aaaw! That was sweet, and the image of young Will. Kawaii! I really liked this ^_^.
Thought I just can't see James serving under Captain William aboard the Dutchman. I don't think he would be bitter or anything, but Will (and Elizabeth and Bootstrap) really did screw him over to much in life.

Well, Will *is* trying to fix that a little bit. Maybe he can play the "young and stupid" card as an apology. But you're right, James wouldn't be happy on the Dutchman (unless he and Will were snuggly and canoodling, of course) which is why it's a temporary thing, until he makes a decision. ^_^

Aw, young Will and his big teeth. ::cuddles::

Thanks for commenting, nice to see you around! Lovely icon, btw.

True... But that card is all but useless now after DMC. *laughs* I can see Will trying it and only getting a very cold glare and a cocked eyebrow for his efforts. Hmmm... I can see them playing a little game of hide-the-sausage in Will's cabin while aboard, but you know Tia would so steal James for her own before he (or Will) finally make a decision.

He was a cute little stink wasn't he? ~_^ I can soooo see James taking him under his wing and helping him become independent when he was little.

^_^ I've been so damn busy at work lately. *sigh* Now I'm playing catch-up with all the wonderful fics and posts. Thanks, I totally snagged that one from madamtorsion.

You I really agree, about the idea and reasons for it being a temporary thing (that james stays on the dutchman). I read a lot of fics which have him stay and its implied its for the long haul (hell even I started writing one). but I think it mostly because no on wants to let go of norringtons character, cause lets face it he's so damn cool. But it doesn't really feel true to his character that he would remain indefinately. The beauty of james norrington is his honor, courage and compassion (for me) that fact that james had no fear of death and went willingly cause as many heart broken squees on my side as the scene where he gives will and elizabeth his blessing at the end of cotbp. I imagine he would go straight on to death, and if he did stay on dutchman for any length of time it would be for Will, and not out of any problems with death, because he already accepted that when he stabbed jones. I think your portrayal of character here is great! Sigh, Norrington was just to good for that world. The good guys always die young (sniffle)

Oh, yes yes yes. Norrington knew he was going to die and accepted it. At that point, he would not accept anything else. In one of the first fix-it fics I wrote, Over the Crest Again, James goes so far as to refuse to be brought back to life. There's undertones of Turrington at the beginning, so I think you might like it. (I'm not just shamelessly plugging myself-- it is rather similar to this fic in a few ways.) I've got another fic idea where James ends up as a ghost, and is Not Happy about it-- he wants to go straight on to Death, dammit! There's no sense in loitering! Sadly I don't have a story-arc for it yet, but I'm swirling it around in my head. ^_^

Thanks for replying! It's great to get such a meaty comment. I think this is my mantra, now: The beauty of James Norrington is his honor, courage and compassion.

Oh, yes! Please write this! I've been yearning for a Ghost!James story (well, specifically, a James-haunting-Elizabeth story, but I'd be happy for anything).
