breaking up is hard to do

Nov 10, 2005 10:30

it's funny how cliches get to the heart of the matter in one bite-sized aphorism

i think this is why i adore the "facts of life" theme song

but yeah

good breakup music?

i've been listening non-stop to fiona apple's "when the pawn" and "extraordinary machine"
i guess some elliott smith could be thrown in there

blah

I always listen to Dashboard Confessional and think "God, at least I'm not THAT guy!"

your hair is everywhere/screaming infidelities/and taking it's wear

that would be decent if the rhyme wasn't so atrocious

the key is not to find a variety of break up songs. the key is to find the one song that is perfect, then to listen to it again and again and again until it is permenantely burned into your brain as the song of that break up for the rest of your life.

no okay variety is important too.

here are some of mine:
-"go your own way" --fleetwood mac
-"you oughta know" --alanis
-"no distance left to run" - blur (might make you kill yourself)
-"needles and pins" -- the searchers
and TONS of tom petty songs.

you will know you are over it when "you oughta know" becomes funny again.

sorry to hear. don't know the story, but sorry anyway.

"no distance left to run" is great.

and "you oughta know" has always been funny to me. it's not appropriate in this case because i'm not scornful

this more of a "oh gee i really fucked this up and didn't mean to hurt you but i did and there's nothing else to do i'm sorry" thing

i'm usually not the heartbreaker, it's a weird feeling
