...basically, if they've spent the time and energy to come over here, there's usually something they want. And if they're powerful enough to be solid, odds are they're going to take it.
It's more pattern recognition. As people say, it pays to be skeptical. If they do turn out evil, you can take satisfaction that you saw it all along, and were prepared accordingly. If they turn out good, then you can be pleasantly surprised.
Though to be fair, I understand the sentiment. I still wonder who I ticked off to get in the student handbook.
