[He snapped out of his droning a few hours ago.
-and then hadn't said a word about it, quietly checking a calendar- (Missed my own fuckin' birthday? Tch)- and ensuring that Taiwan continued to sleep safely in their bed. He'd silently checked on Saki and Mindy, as well, pausing only briefly at their doorways before gently picking up Chocomeltje

He's not there this morning, which is strange. He's always there. And the door isn't fully shut. Inside the house, Chocomeltje's cage is empty - and now that she looks for it, his car isn't in the driveway.
She can see headlights up at the top of the hill overlooking town. It's such a minor coincidence that it almost feels stupid to her to check. But this wasn't like the drone, so ( ... )

Because that's what he needs to do, he knows. Apologize to her, because he broke a promise. Apologize for abandoning her.
Maybe that's why he's come here instead of facing her, ever hesitant to expose his heart, because such a thing is a trifle he pretends not to have at all.]

What the hell is she supposed to do? Supposed to say? Supposed to FEEL? She'd felt a deep, cavernous hollow within her chest without him there with her, but now that he was here... he was back here in this stupid, godforsaken town that she hated. Maybe he'd been safe. Maybe he'd been back home. How could she be happy for that?
She doesn't know what to feel. She unballs her hands and just looks at him quietly as tears begin to well up in her eyes.*

[He inclines his head a little- enough to look at the ground and not her.]
Y'shouldn't have trusted me.
[If you ever did to begin with, he thinks, because doubt will always lick up at the edges of his mind like fire when it comes to her. She has no reason to trust him or his word even when he'd like nothing more than for her to blindly do so.]

It's a surprise to find the Netherlands up there, moving to stand (carefully) beside him at the hood of the car. She idly adjusts her hair to make sure it's still mostly covering the right side of her face and eyepatch, staring out the town beyond the summit.]
Well. Good to see your sunny face again.

Fuck.

He nearly laughs in surprise. He doesn't, though. He remains quiet, exchanging words through silent actions and expressions with the troll.
'He's back.'
'I know. Stinks like him.'
'Talk to him?'
'...Not right now.'
'It's been some time since you've spoken to him, child.'
'I know.'
He cuts the 'conversation' off there, peering out from behind the tree. ...Later.]

Eventually he gets off of the car to have a look around.]

There's only one creature he's met in Mayfield who stirs up the flickering remnants of the second sight he had so very long ago, which means that its sole companion cannot be far.
He's silent for a bit, regarding the spot where he knows the troll is.]
...Where is he?

He emerges from the woods, scratched up with leaves and sticks in his hair. He was going to walk over to the edge and look at the town, but he saw Netherlands. So he just decides to go sit behind a tree instead.]
