double zero tree

This seems to be a rather pointless existence. Waking up every day without anything to do. I suppose the start of the school term would provide some form of entertainment. Maybe I can even join a club or five and make friends, laugh and be merry.

... But there really isn't anything to do, is there? So what happens when I finish university and ( Read more... )

not supposed to be this way, existentialism like whoa

You know, life is suppose to have more meaning because it's short.

Supposed to be. There's not much difference in dropping dead now and kicking the bucket fifty years later. Fifty autumns... you couldn't even form an oyster pearl in that amount of time.

That sounds about right. Otherwise humanity wouldn't have war to haste along their deaths.

Why does your guidance counselor hate you?

And I think we're put here to love. Isn't that what all mortals-and most gods-aspire to? It seems like a good thing to dedicate your life to.

Because I kept asking her why I needed to do whatever it was she was telling me to do. She didn't have answers but wouldn't admit it. In the end she told me to go speak with the philosophy professor and asked if I wanted a switch in major.

To love? I don't think I'm capable of that, cousin.

Maybe that would be a better idea, cousin. At least you wouldn't have to deal with her.

Everyone is, though. You love us, right?

I would still have to deal with her because then we'll be discussing the repercussions of switching courses two years into university. And she was only being sarcastic. I think.

Naturally. You would know this since I did visit you from time to time. But I don't see how that gives us any purpose. In fact, I'd say I was pretty obsolete -- the seasons are changing just fine.

Finding direction can be a difficult thing when you first arrive here. Do not despair, darling. If death were our captors' ultimate goal, I imagine they would have killed us directly instead of doing all this. There is a chance that we might be restored to our rightful places.

Perhaps death is the ultimate goal and this is the prolonged torture. I seem to lack your cheerful optimism, mother. But then again perhaps you have more than enough for the two of us.

Family is nice. But I've got all the family I want in the world as it is.
