I've started Lolita WINNER FIRST LINE EVER! LOL but the copy I had was our library's so it was kinda not appealing to finish it (invalid reason). It's a pity I haven't read any of Murakami's because they are so damn expensive >_<;; I kinda always measure the proportion of the price and the thickness of the book which is not a really good basis I had my eyes on them for soooooooo long!
Malaking bawas ang 20% discount sa isang brand new Murakami book! *___* If that book is Murakami's thickest I might just pick that as my first book LOOOOOL XDD
Ooooh! Books! I definitely agree that "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" is a wonderful book. *__* And Sophie's World! It's very insightful, and I love how it's in the form of letters so it's like the book's speaking to you.
Hmm, a few books that I like that instantly pop into my head are: Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (GUHHHHHHHHH ♥) Sold by Patricia McCormick (a bit like poetic prose for younger teens) My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami (which starts out odd and gets even more odd LOL) Autobiography of a Geisha by Sayo Masuda Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu (Be With You) by Takuji Ichikawa Twilight series by Stephenie Mayer (I know a lot are complaining that it's almost utter crap in terms of writing but Edward Cullen is intriguing LOL)
And not really a novel but - Crush by Richard Siken (compilation of his works - I LOVE HIM)
YAAAAY YES HIGH FIVE VIVA SOPHIE'S WORLD!!! \:D/ Pati The Curious Incident!!! And yays so many suggestions! ;3; Thanks so much, Joie! I'd definitely try to get my hands on those because I trust your taste! ♥ Heehee! Also. I am so intrigued by Twilight's popularity LOL
YES, SOPHIE'S WORLD! It's so interesting how it went through the history of Philosophy, and explained things in a story-form, which (for me) was easier to understand. XD
I think the Twilight series is pretty cheap (600 for hardbound and half the price ata for the soft cover) because it's super thick. Kasing kapal ng Bible. XD I'm finishing up on Norwegian Wood by Murakami and it's more mellow than his other books. I think if you're going to read him, Norwegian Wood would be a nice start.
And I can relate with your frustration of not being able to read that much now. GUHH, I want more free time. LOL. Oh btw, what are you doing now after grad?
Right now I want The Asiatics so much! Ugh and also Haruki Murakami's new book, which is pretty short but I hear it's good. And Tokyo! lol
And dgkhg YES books are so fucking expensive now. Well, in UP, there are second hand book stalls that sell relatively cheap, I mean compared to bookstores but it's summer and they're not always open.
Hehe ang weird, I'm also craving for books these daysXD
kjsd;asd;as; The world needs more of bargain bookstores ;____; Let the books roam the world! Peoples. Sell your old books to BOOK SALE and make cheapstakes like Demi happy LOL LOL LOL Hmm. Where in UP exactly? I shall remind you to tell me about it again when classes start...maybe we can shop for books together?? *3*
YAY BOOKS YAAAAYYYY! Let's be bookworms like Jun...or something like that.
Hee the place is called"AS Walk" and there are stalls...I can;t buy books because I have two more I haven't finished reading yet lol so I feel guilty when I want to buy hahah
RLY? D: I am an impulsive buyer when it comes to books (when I had the money to spare or when it's on bargain!). I--I have a bunch of unfinished books here (e.g., Like the Flowing River, Foucault's Fucking Pendulum, Famished Road--what is the meaning of this!?) I know it's a shame but guhhh I will read them somedayyy... *feasts on new authors*
Kaya hindi ako maka-1% manlang sa epic list of 'must read's kasi yung iba talagang hindi ko pa tinatapos. OTL;;
The monthly P500 allowance I receive from the government was usually spent on books.
Lol SM SUCAT yeeeeeeeah!! \o/ LALALAALAAALAAAA~
Wahahaha! YEAAAAHHH XDD Dati wala pa yung SM Sucat eh dba tapos hardcore sa National pa ng Jaka Plaza talaga kami nagbobook-windowshopping wahahaha! Also. Actually, you know dapat nakalagay dyan the usually delayed monthly P500 allowance!
