they both heard. it came out during one long, lazy afternoon fuck, somewhere between the hoarse slip-slide of skin and the way xabi crept fingers up into the join of his arm and torso and dug in, and laughed when he kicked. when he looked up from catching his breath xabi was watching him, eyes soft and affectionate and that's when he said it. right after he didn't exactly freeze up, not really. he just hunched over xabi's shoulder and muttered a quick, spirited expletive (probably thinking xabi wouldn't hear that either; he did).
