procrastinating (as usual) i found a really cute cooking show on youtube called "great depression cooking" with 93 yr old Clara teaching recipes her mom made during great depression and also telliing adorable stories. here's her first episode "pasta with peas" and a crazy story about bootleggers renting the garage next door and misadventures.

teach a woman to fish

many weeks back i found a posting on craigslist looking for donations of clothes and food and contacted the woman who'd taken in her sister's three kids in PG county and needed help. she had no idea where to start getting things for them and was getting overwhelmed and just swallowed any pride and put out a shout-out online.
