Nothing a little baking can't fix

What a rough day at work, ugh. I had another big meeting, and my boss totally made me take credit for one of HER lame ideas -- an idea that totally backfired. I won't get into details, but it was not fun having the CEO and several Executive VPs staring at me as if I had three heads. Especially when I've been working very hard to get them to take ( Read more... )

Sometimes I just hate being so young, and having only a few years work experience under my belt.

I absolutely agree! It was rough for a while there when I was fresh out of college and presenting ideas to much-older colleagues who treated me like I was in kindergarten. Now I'm almost 28 (next week - weird!) and almost done with law school. I'm hoping this combination will land me a bit more credibility! It just takes time, I guess...

The gingerbread sounds fabulous! I've never made my own for some reason - maybe when finals are over!

Ooh, another December birthday! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has felt belittled for being so young -- can you pass some of that law school credibility this way? :)

I agree too. I remember one of my team leaders patted me on the back and said, "good girl" once in a meeting when I was first out of school. It was infuriating! It does take time. Sometimes I even still feel the same way and I'm about to turn 31!! I'm not sure what age it is where you begin to get credibility due to age/experience alone.

Your menu for the bookclub meeting sounds fabulous! Well balanced and so many yummy gourmet treats! You made your own biscotti?!?! Now, that's impressive! Thanks for the gingerbread recipe. I was thinking about making it the other day from a mix. This sounds 100 times better!

By the way, I laughed at your posting music, I watched Project Runway last night too while doing some things for work. It was a good episode! I haven't watched it since last year, but I do always love their tasks. Excited for the Apprentice finale tonight??....oh wait?! Sounds like you might miss it if you have book club tonight. What are you to do?! :0

Puh-lease. Miss The Apprentice finale for my book club? :) I made it perfectly clear at the beginning of the meeting that since I was the host, whether we were done at 9 or not, the tv was going ON.

Last night's Project Runway was the first one I watched of the season, though I caught all of last season. Great, just what I need -- another reality show to get addicted to!

And my eyes nearly bugged out when reading about your pat on the back. When I first started at my current company, my boss patted me on the HEAD after a particularly good presentation I gave to our CMO. If she accompanied that with a "good girl," I totally would have lost it. How do you react to something like that?!
