The Apprentice Aftermath

Dec 15, 2005 23:24

Just watched The Apprentice finale and I am astonished.  Simply astonished.  I was thrilled that Randal won.  He truly deserved it.  But I was also positive that at the same moment "The Donald" announced Randall as the winner, he would announce Rebecca as the co-winner!  And when this didn't happen, I was fine with it.  Good for Randal, I thought ( Read more... )

I was eagerly awaiting your Apprentice post! :) I just KNEW one was coming!! I knew I could count on my reality show buddy.

It was a great episode! And I too am so happy for Randall and was a little shocked he didn't take Trump up on his offer to also hire Rebecca. I was actually glad he did. I loved his rationale too (The Apprentice not the Apprenti...heehee)...I can't believe he came up with that on the spot! Do you think they gave him a chance to think of that in advance? I was surprised because it didn't seem to go with his nice nature, but at the same time I was excited because it definitely answered Trump's question, "is Randall tough enough for the city."

I think Rebecca will fare well. I have a feeling Trump will still hire her somehow. He really seemed to take a liking to her.

Sorry to pepper your journal with profanity, but Randall is a d-i-c-k. It's funny that his "nice guy" persona that he carried with him is forever tarnished by his hasty and selfish decision. I couldn't believe he did that! Total jerk! Rebecca would have urged Trump to hire Randall as well.

What really annoys me is that it was all Donald Trump's fault! I swear...his writers probably told him to ask each contestant which project they would want (he did this), and then tell them they were BOTH hired. But instead, I believe he messed up on live television by hiring just Randall and had to backtrack, and thinking that Randall was "such a nice guy" would help him out. So he asks him and what does he say? NO! What a mess!

Poor Rebecca. Talk about kicking someone when they are down! I liked them both equally and was sure they would both be hired. But last night was unbelievable! Talk about shady!

I totally agree with Elaine. Randall is an ASS. Sure, it would be nice to have all the glory to yourself, but now he's not even going to have that. His image will be forever overshadowed by that one moment. Think what a great opportunity he had to be the bigger person. That would have gotten him way more glory than being just the one Apprentice. How hard was it to say, "I always think there's room for another great person. Hire her!" Nope, not hard at all. I was astonished.

I can see both of your points, but I do agree with Randall. It was shocking considering he was so laid back and kind throughout the whole thing, but I don't think it was rude of him to say no. I think he was exactly right. Its a contest, a game, its supposed to have one winner. I saw him on the Today show say if someone wins a gold medal in the Olympics they don't ask them to share it. I totally agree and I do think that Randall was a better candidate than Rebecca so I think he should have won straight out. He raised $11,000 for the charity and she raised $0. A clear winner ( ... )

Yeah, I can appreciate your point, and maybe I am just mad at The Donald for putting him in that horrible position. But I still think Randall had a huge opportunity to be the bigger person. It's not really like winning a gold medal, IMO - that is a prize given to a clear winner when two people are running the same race. These were two people with different talents and leadership styles doing two projects with lots of different variables. My point: there is always room for more gifted leadership. I just don't think it's the same. At the very least, I wish he would have handled it better. He just didn't strike me as a gracious winner.

Whoa, I love all the debate that The Apprentice finale has sparked in my journal! Now that I've had a few days to let it all sink in, I'm going to have to say that in the end, I am finally conceding that Randal did the right thing. Good point, Lauren, re: the money-raising task. Randal won fair and square, and though I did like Rebecca, I seriously doubt that her career is in any danger of going anywhere but up.
