Notes: Written for winter_of_faith. Set during Season Three, shortly after the Slayers kill Kakistos.
Summary: Faith reflects on how little money she has.

As she lays on the bed staring up at the stained ceiling, Faith wonders why she even bothers with Sunnydale. Kakistos is dead. There is no need for her to stay anymore. Giles keeps promising her that the Council is sending someone but after being in Sunnydale for a week, Faith doubts it. Why would the Council worry about her when they have girl wonder in the form of Buffy Summers.
It's not that she's bitter (overly much) but it stings that even Giles can't be bothered to make sure that she's okay. She knows that she's not really the Watcher's responsibility and she gets that she's kind of an anomaly but she can't figure out why he'd just leave her to her own devices. She's barely eighteen, on her own, without a job and none of the adults that Buffy looks up to are really concerned about Faith's well being.
Perhaps her mother was always right about Faith after all.
With a sigh, she rolls over on the bed. She's not quite sure how she's going to make ends meet and she knows that there's no way she can leave Sunnydale with fifteen bucks in her pocket. It's barely enough to cover her motel room and something to eat tomorrow. She's not sure where she's going to get money to cover her pathetic expenses. Sure there's the Fish Tank where she can con a few bucks playing pool but she can't do that every night. Nor can she pick pockets there every night.
Maybe she can ask Giles for a few dollars to tied her over until her Watcher finally arrives. While she's at it, she might as well as play nice and visit Buffy's home. The last thing Faith really wants to do is to play nice with Buffy's family but she really has no choice. Not if she wants to survive.
