Mid day is it? Peter must be wrestling with sorcery issues to leave these brunettes on their own, not that Caspian minds being on his own with Edmund at all. Edmund always did have an independent streak about him, something the Telmarine admires. This however does not mean he'll go easy on the Just in swordplay. Swordplay in the snow, as if he didn't already run the risk of falling ill over yesterday's ambush. Speaking of that, Caspian has to eyeball Edmund with a skeptical edge equal to that of the blade at his side.

"You're not going to trick me again, are you," he asks.

An opening. Now it's Caspian's turn to take on the offensive. He uses their positions to his advantage, sword cutting downward to cut off any chance of Edmund raising his own blade. His footwork is fast and he can either step on the other man's sword to keep it down or even hook his toe under it to disarm him. Should he manage to get the edge close enough to the Just's throat he will ask 'Do you yield?' But Caspian isn't there yet, and becoming too ambitious is a weakness.

Becoming too ambitious is definitely a weakness and experience has taught him this. The Just sees Caspian coming towards him and moves quickly, stiff hands quickly closing around the hilt of his sword and gripping, before his opponent has time to disarm him.

And with that, he crouches and swings his leg out in a wide arc, hoping to kick Caspian's legs out from under him.

He was a expecting a slash from the sword, not a kick, and maybe it has something to do with Edmund's height, so out of range of his own. Short references aside, the sweep is a strong one and Caspian goes down, grunting from the fall into the snow. His sword tumbles into a drift, out of his grasp and hard to find in piles of white. But Caspian isn't finished yet, if he has to grapple Edmund he will. The Just saw him do this to his brother, Edmund Pevensie is not exempt from a full on contact sport.

He is not short, thank you. As an adult, Edmund was a gawky king, long limbs and the like. It's just here that he's a kid.

The Just hadn't expected Caspian to turn this into a wrestling match, but no matter. That's fine as well.

Edmund tumbles into the snow, on top of Caspian. For now.

Well now. Caspian reaches for Edmund's wrist, looking to grasp it firmly and prevent that blade from touching his throat which would certainly give the Just a victory for this round. The weight on top of him is slighter than what he's used to but no less deadly. That in mind he could be reminded of his first meeting with one very noble rodent, but surprise gave Reepicheep the edge that time. He was not expecting his attacker to be a Talking Mouse. At least he knows Edmund, maybe not as well as he'd like, but well enough to certainly put up his own in a fight. He's reminded of his older brother instead, a good swordfight and tackle, one straddling the other, and the intensity of his gaze when he's looking down at the Telmarine, the glaring difference being what doesn't follow his encounter with Edmund. No lips to the ear, cementing victory on not just one battlefield but two. Still, Caspian can see why they make such a good team ( ... )

Right now, Caspian's got the upper hand. That has to change. About right now.

Except that when the Telmarine grabs his wrist, all of his own thoughts are blocked from his mind for a short moment and replaced by-

An image. Peter holding Caspian down, leaning to whisper something in his ear, licking his ear.

Edmund draws a blank for a moment as to why he might be picturing this.

"Sorry?" he asks in confusion, hearing the Telmarine say something. More like whispered something so faint that he couldn't even make out the words. "Did you say something?"

They're still playing--er... sparring aren't they?

He relents, tilting his head at the brunette.

"Pardon," Caspian asks, genuinely curious and not at all suspicious that Edmund could be trying to trick him.

"You just said something. About Peter." he's confused as well, now. And wonders why Caspian's speaking so much louder as of now.

He loosens his grip now, as well.

"No I didn't."

Oh for the love of Narnia. At this point Caspian completely releases Edmund's wrist but doesn't disengage from the straddle. This is just in case he is being tricky.

"Well you are complimentary," he admits, but he doesn't recall saying this outloud.

Edmund frowns, wanting to figure this out.

"It wasn't that. It was an image, a memory." he says distractedly, worrying at his bottom lip. It had definitely been Caspian's voice speaking to him then.

"At any rate, it doesn't matter. I must have gotten something mixed." he knows that it's definitely not the end of the matter, but he's going to let it pass for now.

He gives Caspian a couple of seconds to take his last statement as a sign to begin again.

Oh. Oh. Oh horseshit.

Don't be transparent don't be transparent don't be transparent don't be transparent don't be transparent don't be transparent.

Caspian nods, slowly at first. If he plays ignorant like one plays dead to a bear maybe Edmund won't question it. He swallows and hopes even that was subtle. Right, begin again. Except... He gestures to the snow drift. If he can get up and retrieve the blade maybe he can buy himself time for regaining composure.

If you think Edmund didn't notice your facial expression right there, Caspian, you're dead wrong. And also a fool. He sees more than what most people think he does, just doesn't say anything about it. For now.

He gets up, sword in hand, and nods once. Giving Caspian time to retrieve his sword is chivalry, and he is a knight after all. It's only fair.

Caspian's going to pretend like that exchange never happened, however it happened, except not knowing how it happened is the worst part of it. While he's moving away to retrieve his sword he remembers the image that came to mind, how similar it is to what Edmund perceived, and how it came to him when he touched the Just. If that's how this works.... He raises his sword along with a sheepish smile.

"Perhaps that is enough for the day."

It isn't my place to tell you.

Smooth Caspian X, real smooth.
