JUST A LITTLE GATHERING IN COLOGNE

I attended the Con in Cologne on March 20-22. It started out as just a gathering of fans who had attended some of Cons but then Elke got Randy to commit to attend. Once he was signed, she decided to get Dean Armstrong who played Blake and Makyla Smith Deleo who played Daphne to attend which made for a very different but lively event.

Okay, M, I'll reply to this one. I wondered who knew this and should have known it would be you!

During one of my trips to Toronto during the run of QAF, we visited the Sex Emporium and took pictures of each other in much the same way as they did. It's nice to know that they had a good time off camera.

Thank you so much, Dixie, for sharing your experiences with us! I was so bummed when I couldn't make it but there were plans with the family that were put in place ages ago so couldn't go changing them :) Although, I did hear that I was mentioned at the convention even if I wasn't there. And I don't know if you were still in the restaurant on Friday when a friend of mine had Dean calling me. So got to be a small bit part of the experience too :)

From your report and what a few of my friends have told me, it really sounds like it was a good event and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you for telling a bit what went on at the panels. Will be interesting to see the results from all the projects Randy has going on. And the pics of Makyla pregnant looked so cute. Actually all the photos I've seen from the event look really good. Waiting for the DVD to come out and thinking about purchasing it :)

Toronto is quite faraway for me to travel but I'm definitely taking it into consideration if it happens.

Hi Pia,

You're welcome. Yes, I was at the table when Sandra got you on the phone and I heard Dean's side of the convo and what he thinks PIA means! Randy also mentioned you whenever there was silence but Arta bravely came up with some questions to keep the ball rolling. These smaller panels though were more conversational than Q&A so we were able to chime in when we wanted to.

Hope you can make it Toronto if a Con transpires.

I hoped I wasn't speaking out of turn regarding a possible Toronto Con. Already people are buzzing here in the states.

You know I wasn't sure in the beginning if I would go to this one but I am so so glad that I changed my mind. It was such a delightful group and the added bonus of Dean and seeing Makyla and Randy together after 10 years made it very special indeed. You never disappoint.

Thanks for a great report, Dixie! I remember Dean promoting the acting studio back when I was doing the QAF news for my site, and it seemed like that was really where his heart was. It's fun to hear about Makayla, and how the fans sometimes remember more about the show than the actors do, because once they've performed it, they move on, but we go back and re-watch it, analyze it, deconstruct it, write fic about it, etc. etc. LOL!! Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Thanks Heather. Yours is a name I haven't seen in a long time and it's nice to know you are still around. I remember the days of getting so much info from your site. I sure do miss seeing some of the originals.

Thank you so much for this lovely and informative report. I've been waiting for some news from somebody who went. I was so sad I couldn't go. My MIL's 90th birthday was that weekend and as you know I'm coming to America and Spain in May/June so this was not even a remote possibility. My daughter loves Broad City and has told me to watch it. Great to see they were so relaxed and you had such a good time. Happy they have such interesting lives outside QaF. Pics soon? I'd love to see how Dean and Makyla look these days although you did say she hadn't changed. Zarata could take notes from this event? Thanks again.

ETA Toronto, I love that place. I had such a great few days there in 2007 and did a QaF location tour with ? whose name escapes me for the moment. A wonderful day I'll never forget reliving the show. I'll think seriously about that one.

Thanks. I missed seeing all of you too. What a beautiful pic. And Randy is smiling!!! Dean is still sooo cute and Makyla hasn't aged at all.

I'm going to Bilbao overnight in June with the kids. We have a hotel overlooking the Guggenheim. David is looking forward to spending hours there.
