Filial Magic Mastery
Raine's filial magic abilities were initially established for convenience; enough to teach the basics, increasing defensive skills, and of course, more of her intense focus done on healing for practical purposes. While the amount of magic that she can cast capably has increased overall, it's main function is still support.
The Healing Spirit, Nala

- State of relationship: Nala was the first spirit encountered due to a natural healing ability, and back in the earlier days the barrier's suppressing nature was higher than usual, leaving Raine to seek outside herself for learning new abilities. Eventually the barrier's dampening would alter to allow normalcy at half power, though she still invokes the magic she learned when necessary. In May of 2009, a compromise in the barrier resulted in a shift in which the spirit possessed her, resulting in even a greater improvement over the magic. Sometimes when she focuses too long on pulling that magic together, it takes longer for her to come out of it.
Utilized abilities: Mastered healing bones, stopping bleeding, pinpointing injuries, simple restoration techniques, purify toxins. Usually uses skills to support her own healing arts. She's fairly accomplished with the magic, though she hasn't given up on possibly finding new techniques by more combinations.
The Fire Spirit, Eferin

- Current state of relationship: Initial contact with the fire spirit was made during a period of time when she was making more active efforts to study the spirits and gain skills of use. There was a brush with some difficulty due to her higher affinity toward water and healing, but once he became willing to share, she was able to grasp the concept of the magic well enough to her needs.
Utilized abilities: She has enough skill to make fire, that can be used for lanterns, containing it in a small glowing ball, or lighting a campfire. Recently she's been focusing more on how to incorporate it into other areas, such as heat without visible flame (focused into healing or drying off clothing), and trying to enhance basic fire magic spells.
The Water Spirit, Sona

- Current state of relationship: While having a higher affinity to water due to her healing studies and capabilities, Raine's sheer avoidance of the water (save for when an experiment forced her to live in the lake for a week as a mermaid) kept her from picking up the magic earlier on. Lately she's been trying to be more open minded where the use is concerned, learning abilities rather quickly. The problem is the water.
Utilized abilities: Water for gardening purposes, eventually intending to put it into healing/purifying techniques, helping cool the skin, experimenting with steam, bubbles, ice and snow, focusing into spells.
The Wind Spirit, Kipinn

- State of relationship: Contact with Kipinn was initially made after enough trips and long stays at the barrier, when it was still in the mountain location.
Utilized Abilities: Levitate and move light objects, experimenting with water magic to try and discover weather patterns. Incorporating sound/voice projection (for over large groups, such as that one town meeting, or if the classroom gets too loud). Eventual experimenting with healing over distances and/or just redirecting spells.
The Electricity Spirit, Tsinku

- State of relationship: Her final spirit to contact, finally out of necessity for demonstrations. It's an ability and relationship she'll need to work harder to train adequately - the alternate reality shift has left her uncomfortable toward the magic, even if she's aware that it's not "her" issue. Her goal is to overcome that at some point, especially the more time she gets to practice her spells.
Utilized abilities: Her experience with fire and light magic have made it a little easier to grasp some aspects of the basics, along with knowledge of the basic lightning spell from her world, but mostly it's utilized for small contained balls of energy and demonstrations.
The Earth Spirit, Faerin

- State of relationship: Contact with the spirit was initiated early on, and Raine found her abilities fairly easy to learn and experiment with, similar to Nala's. The relationship improved the more that Raine turned her time toward the garden and flower shop.
Utilized abilities: Cultivating plants, healing and nurturing them, and reviving them in some cases (depending on the length of time as well as a boost from her own powers), raising earth for defensive purposes (such as tripping up pursuers).
The Light Spirit, Hyt

- State of relationship: A little more difficult to pursue than she initially expected, it took her a few months after arriving before contact was made with Hyt. Once she did, it didn't take very long for her to study and gain more of a mastery of the magic, though she always looks to improve.
Utilized abilities: She's utilized the self-defense mechanism of temporarily stunning a foe by coordinating it with a well timed photon spell; lately she focuses on bending illusions and is working on more aspects of it. It sometimes gets used with fire, to increase the light it provides. More shade from buildings on warmer days, or redirecting the light for plants that might not benefit from it.
