[And she heads in the other direction to get the tea. It doesn't take too long, since the kettle had already been started.]
I'm sorry for the wait. [At least she had already had the chance to refuel the fireplace before his arrival.] I've brought extra lemon, cream, and sugar, in case you wanted any.
I do indeed, Professor. So much about Luceti I still don't understand. Even after reading your wonderful guide, many of my questions remain unanswered.

The drafts involve a long standing war between the Malnosso and what we've come to call the Third Party. I'm not certain how much you know of them... in any case, our tasks are usually outlined for us. The last time was fairly different from previous battles because we were given several tasks and a short time to do it, as opposed to just eliminating the Third Party in the area.
We weren't involved with the war at first. It was only after the enclosure was broken into that they began to consider using us for it. The reasons we've been given to our selection deal with compatibility with the shifts in the area we're being sent to. Supposedly it would do us harm if we were brought in and not fit for the task.
I have been reading Mister Silverberg's locked transmissions, but what exactly is this Third Party specifically? And why do the Malnosso want them rid of?
There's also the question I want to know, what information do you gather from doing these drafts? In all honesty, I wish to know who are true foes are.

We first became aware of the Third Party's existence a few years ago, when we watched a live sacrifice take place over the network at the old ruins. We were told that the sacrifice was the only "true" way the Third Party sought to remove everyone from this world; a process which would erase their entire existence from here and their own world

That still begs the question, who are our true foes and allies? Or can we only truly depend on one another? There's so much that I desire an answer for, yet I know it is impossible for all my questions to be answered at once. Perhaps what I fear most is the fate which will be in store for us all. Should we be afraid of this place and try to return home or accept things as they are

We are our own allies in this place. As long as the Malnosso continue to use us for the purpose of their experiments, they're not wholly on our side either. Even with their purpose--which according to them, is to find the right shift to send everyone back to their proper homes--being what it is, we're still not in this location voluntarily. The current CEO tries to make us comfortable, which is different from how things were before, but the project remains.
I understand that it's a difficult position to be in. It's not one I like being in myself. With this process... it's not personal. Perhaps in the future, should this continue, there may be a time when you can join the battles, as well.

Earlier on, there weren't really any available explanations to all of this, as we had yet to learn any of it. The enclosure was smaller, our abilities were severely limited, and the only 'Malnosso' official to speak to us was someone who occasionally taunted us with cryptic hints as to what the next experimental Shift would be.

Thank you Professor, I am very grateful for your kindness. And it was no trouble at all, you can take all the time you need.
