Much has gone on, just not much of note. Except I have finally realized I've hit burn out mode. 6 years of teaching, this coming August will start my 7th. I've worked so hard, put in the hours, really tried to do it right. I'm tired. Mentally, physically, emotionally. Well, 3 more weeks of school. 2 weeks of class, then a week of exams, which I won't have many kids taking. I think all but 8 of my kids will opt out of the algebra 2 and who knows how many might take my TAKS review final. Time will tell in 6 weeks how many of my kiddos passed the math TAKS test. Some said it was hard, some said it wasn't bad, some think they passed, some had no sure fire thoughts one way or the other and some just looked lost during the test ( Read more... )

I finally found out what my pottery piece went for at the Arthritis Foundation's Gala. They had 4-5 pieces of pottery, mine had the most bids (6 or 7) and went for $80 (I had put a value of $75 on it, but minium bids are usually well below the value price). And the results are in. 39% of the kids that took the test passed and of my 40 kids, 21 of them passed. Which is 52% and I'm estatic. But broken at the same time for the 19 who didn't. They found out today and a lot of them were in tears. However, of the 14 kids in my last class, 5 of them passed and the other 11 were 3-4 questions short. ( Read more... )

I did a show this weekend. At the retirement neighborhood (nice little patio homes, but you have to be 55+ to buy one). So a bunch of old people, but they brought their friends! And I did GREAT. But it wasn't a pretty ending. I had a major mental breakdown on Thursday from the overwhelming pressure I put on myself.
