Ten years

I just noticed that last week was my 10-year LJ anniversary. Wow. Feels strange, but in a good way. I think. ;) I've been too quiet this summer, though. Not much to say, really! My slate has been shockingly empty, just playing way too many online games and not knitting nearly as much as I used to. I decided to take Portuguese, which was a lot of ( Read more... )

I'm here! I'm here!

I am glad to finally hear about your school year. I wasn't sure how the transition to high school was going to be for you. What books are your kids reading?

Happy LJ Anniversary! I'm not sure if I've been here 8 or 9 years, but you were my first real friend (that I didn't know in RL) in this space. I'm happy to have found you, and that you're still here!

And I'm quite happy to have you around! Yay!

We're about to start a unit on Colonial literature. Should be fun. (And I should be lesson planning right now. ;)

Hey there! I need to start checking in more often.

We're basically going in chronological order. Tomorrow I'm starting the 1650-1800 unit, with the inclusion of The Crucible since it fits the time period. I never liked American Lit when I was in school, but I'm finding it more interesting this time around. :)

It's funny. I actually started thinking I might want to go, since two friends from work were heading down on Friday. But getting a one-day pass is such a hassle, and I can't really afford that plus parking. Ah, well. Maybe next year!

Feliz aniversario! :-)
Happy to hear you are enjoying teaching the older kids. A friend who made a similar switch a few years ago had trouble with the change in attitudes and switched back.
Reading anything interesting these days? Anything really good to recommend?

Hello! I thought it would be a much bigger adjustment than it turned out to be, which is a good thing. The students are better behaved, at least. ;) And I can focus more on the curriculum.

Oh, gosh. I did read a few books over the summer, but I'm totally blanking out on recommendations. Sorry!

I'm still around but haven't posted in donkey's years! Have been an Office Administrator (up from just Receptionist) at the same company for over six years now. Moved back in with my folks after ending a very VERY long relationship a little over 2 years ago - regrouping to save, go back to school and move the hell out. Decided on Psychology major in college with the eventuality of getting Doctorate in Neural Psychology (because... the brain is AMAZING). Glad to know things are going well for you! I might actually post on my own LJ now (my 10 yr LJ anniversary is in 2015)

Goodness, quite a busy life! Best of luck with college -- that sounds like an excellent plan of study. :)
