One thing may be the air quality especially in Southern California. A couple of years is taken of the life span of an LA area resident just from breathing this air. Also, parents are more paranoid because the news wants them to be. All that you see now on the news is rape and murder and ubducted children so parents are scared to have their kids in harm's way.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the air quality part simply because this is the cleanest I've ever seen LA I used to drive with my dad into the heart of the city every weekend to help my dad at work. Trust me, air quality has improved!

It's easier to keep a child inside now. We have kids at 4 years old learning the computer and already socialising through different means then going out and finding people. Not only that but most parents think it's so much safer to stay inside. Bullshit. Parents are just perpetuating a misunderstanding of environment.

I depends on the area, but overall yes, I totally agree. There generally aren't lurkers hanging out in your backyard in Santa Clarita waiting to offer your kids candy and throw them in their van.

Freudian slip? Anyway, yeah, I agree. It's totally tempting to have all that stuff available. Which is why it shouldn't be. Netflix and no cable!
