[Rose looks down, then up at him. She's been carrying them for so long that she's forgotten that most don't.]

Oh. Probably not the sort you're thinkin' of. I'm a new Cadet.

[The name still feels strange from disuse, but she ignores it.]

Yeah, I do. Getting to learn about things before just experiencing them is something of a luxury for me. It's nice.

Yeah, but luckily most of those are pretty universal, so it was a breeze.

They're basically turnin' us out to be soldiers, yeah? I don't know how balancing a chemical reaction or proper ballroom dancing is useful for it.

Well, mercenaries. And everyone says that about ballroom dancing, but you've clearly never had to sneak into a marine ball and pretend to be one of them by out dancing all of them. And balancing chemical reactions is definitely important if you're deal with explosives and alcohol.

Can't say I have, but it's a sorry day if I can't lie, sneak, or otherwise break into some place I shouldn't be. As for the explosives... well, I'll just hope I do better the second time 'round with the sciences.

[Grins at her accepting his offer though.] My pleasure.

[Blinks at the question and points at the tattoo on his chest.] My family. But I don't have to be back in my world to keep doing that.
