[The camera cuts on and shows a man, big, wearing welding goggles, sitting in a hotel-style room. Riddick's been here a few days now, but he's been creeping like a fucking creeper and trying to find the control room or at least an escape shuttle. No such luck. He'll have to deal with you people now ( Read more... )

Don't we all. You're going to have to find it yourself; and he hasn't been making it easy.

if it was easy it wouldnt be a fucking prison

[Riddick can write grammatically, he's aware of the conventions, but it takes too damn long. You know what he's saying.]

Prison's have exits. Doors. No matter how well guarded it was, I'd always been able to leave. But not this place.

Good luck trying to contact the Admiral. I've been looking for him for months.

Trust me, you're a long way from anyone's gen-pop, man.

[Luke's been in prison too and some things never change.]

Your stuff's been put on the backburner for now.

[Riddick regards the other man-- even across a network he can see he's big. Big doesn't have to be a problem for him. He's too confident to even look a challenge. Just keeps up with the casual and the conversational.]

It's gonna take more than a long commute for me to let incarceration fuck up my priorities. You one of the staff? Because I just can't get with your program. [The tone is all false-apology.]

[Luke has a pretty good idea that Riddick was sizing him up...since he was instinctively doing the same.]

Yeah, I'm one of the Wardens. Lucky you, cause there's as many "programs" as their are Wardens on this thing.

I noticed the real ... personal warden/convict ratio, yeah. [He's dropping the pretense he doesn't consider this a prison. Nothing else he'd call someplace he's trapped.]

What's your name, tiny?

Body counts are useless and prove nothing. People return from the dead here. It gives the Admiral an excuse to ignore hostages.

[A look of displeasure drifts across his face because he's seen a lot of shit in the last year and he doesn't put it past you people to come back. Still, he slides right back to that confident, dominant smirk.]

I'm new, not stupid. Gonna send me out for left-handed deck rivets next?

[Just an eyebrow raise. He's put up with Charlemagne Bolivar. You can't out-superior that sort of smirk.] You made the observation yourself. The accommodations are suspiciously lenient. Not without reason.

[He is Richard B Riddick and he's going to try to out macho-bs anyone like his life depends on it.]

So that's why we rate actual shower facilities. That's why nobody's counting knives in the cafeteria. Because you motherfuckers don't stay dead.

[He frowns like this is in severely poor taste.]

[Narvin says nothing but his hackles are raised. He files Riddick in his mind under "probable threat," which means he'll want to get as much information as he can about him without calling attention to himself.

And he's very glad that Rhade mentioned that people don't die here, since it might--he hopes--be a disincentive to murder. But Narvin didn't want to do it himself because, well, he's a coward overly cautious and doesn't want to attract this man's attention just yet.]
