I never had carnations for my Part I finals and nobody batted an eyelid. I'm pretty sure they're a tradition rather than a compulsary part of sub fusc.

There is absolutely no compulsion to wear carnations - they're not a part of sub fusc. The schools do use them in part for picking out the finishers for the back exit, but that's just because they're used to people wearing them.

Certainly you won't have to pay a fine.
