She was like a little canary. Itachi smirked.
Something in the corner of his mind caught his attention as he felt the familiar prescene of someone slowly approaching. The smirk slowly became a sneer, as Itachi soon realize that their objective was quite obvious. Metatron. Would there be more bloodshed today?
And like a predator leaping into the air to snatch a stray bird (canary) from the sky, Itachi's fingers successfully threaded itself in her wings. The pure, holy glow that she was giving off made his form ache, his human heart thumping irregularly before it had slowly started to beat at a pace ( ... )

She wanted to scream, but Hinata took her lip between her teeth and bit down. She would have tasted blood, but she wasn't human.
She might have felt he wind brushing past her, or the glass clinking against her skin, but she wasn't human.
She might have been afraid, looking down down down, but she'd never known vertigo.
Hinata felt him, like a tangy taste in the back of her throat, and she almost, almost called out to him.
Neji.
"Ne--"
It all came rushing at her.

There was a sudden crash of glass and silver, and Neji thought he heard something that sounded like his name. And then the doors were open, and though Itachi was there---right there---and Neji was seeing red and feeling the phantom pains of an old wound in his shoulder, his feet carried him past the fallen angel ( ... )

Saved her.
That brought everything crashing down.
She hid her face from him, pressing it into the shadows between their bodies. She was ashamed, suddenly. He'd told her quite plainly, but she'd been so blind. She'd just been sad for him and...well, she'd been tired of being looked down upon. It would have been nice to do something to make herself proud.
Darn it all to heck.
"Home?" she whispered, her words muffled by shame and her own body.

He didn't say anything to her. What was there to say, aside from I told you so or Why didn't you listen to me or Is it really that hard to get my attention?
Part of him hoped that she lived with this for a long time. Part of him wanted to say, You belong in Heaven, so stay there.
Instead, he just took her home.
