Midnight sun, midnight earth.
It's not the real moon. Once that might have made a difference, and even when Dairine and Adam had first landed in Antarctica, they'd sort of decided to stay there. Space station sleepover (for Adam and Calvin)
Technically, Dairine probably has enough data to go on, and could stay down on the island and start analysing--but then she and Spot wouldn't be on the space station, and even though the view is pretty limited, it's still IN SPACE. Valentine's day (backdated, for Nita)
Dairine has never had any interest in or respect for Valentine's Day in pretty much her whole life. She thought it was sweet when she and Nita were little and their dad gave them each a little bouquet of flowers that matched the big one he made for their mom, but other than a little girl's adoration of her daddy, she hadn't ever seen the point. Dairine likes the Christmas decorations, even if it's all a bit gingerbread house, but by almost Christmas she's sort of stopped noticing them. She'd been out training with the Titans, which had left her exhausted and sore but in a good way, and after a good hot shower she's in sweats and a t-shirt and looking for something to curl up with and read ( Read more... ) -

Dairine had gone back to the bedroom to go to bed. At least that was the theory. Since she'd had so much Coke at the New Year's Eve party that her skin feels vaguely tingly, and after midnight she's a bit too keyed up to sleep. Her brain's moving too fast, and she's running absently through some equations with Spot, lying on her side on the bed, ( Read more... ) -

Normally, there could be a six point earthquake directly under Dairine's bed, and it wouldn't wake her up. (Once, just to illustrate this, Nita had actually moved her bed off-planet, just to be a brat.) But this particular morning, she wakes up before dawn with with the soft hum of the far-distant mobiles in her head.
