I don't think anyone really thinks negative things of you. People may joke about it, but I'm pretty sure you're seen as genuine and kind and caring (please excuse the triteness).

Mortality is very, very difficult to deal with. It's kept me up at night many many times, made me wish I believed in God or an afterlife or something.
But the fact that we don't believe in an afterlife gives this life much, much more meaning. It isn't some dress rehearsal, and it's all we get.
