Josh's (new, unlocked) bike got stolen off our porch in Oregon. We had kind of the same reaction... "Ok, so on the one hand, yeah, our bad, it wasn't locked... but on the other hand, wtf, get off my porch, ya damn hippies!"

I should also mention it had my custom-built rear wheel with kevlar tire which cost me around $80. The old free-wheel hubs in that size are not standard anymore, and I kept breaking spokes on the cheap ones they built, so I had to get it custom built. I loaned it to you when you had those flat tires. We have a $500 deductible on our insurance. You think it's worth reporting?

oh yeah, i forgot about that. I don't know how it works to report. I'm not sure if we add up everything, whether it would be worth $500, probably not.

The insurance covers (I believe) replacement costs. The saddle bags are probably worth $150 by themselves. Of course you'd have to file a police report and they might not want to pay since the bike was unlocked. Also, our premiums could go up.
