Well. It could be worse. Leno could have said that Kylie Minogue (who I understand has a big following elsewhere but is only widely known in the States for her perky, aerobics-style pop hit a decade or more ago) was the best ambassador. Or is that better?

Oh Kylie Minogue would have been much better! Soap star tuned singer turned gay icon! And at least she doesn't wear khaki! (Except for when the military style was all the rage, but that's okay.) But apparently Leno and Irwin were dreadfully good friends, so what can you expect? Not much! But I suppose all countries have to have their share of embarrassments!
