[Satori has had her arm back for some time now, but today something has occurred to her.

And what better way to share her macabre thoughts than over the entire phone network!]This is the second time I've seen my arm since I lost it. At least it's properly attached to me this time. Though I have to wonder if it's even my own arm...the one Koishi ( Read more... )

Oh, yes, that's completely normal.

What is? Losing an arm, or receiving someone else's body parts as compensation?

Losing an arm. I'm fairly certain the one I got back is my own.

Fairly certain, but there's really no way to tell in my case. I didn't have any peculiar marks or anything else to give it away.

In the end it doesn't matter, because it's my arm now, but...well, I do admit I'm curious.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

That was my intention from the beginning. But I can't help if I'm curious.

I'm sure you can help it but it hardly matters in the end.

I'm glad we're in agreement about that. I can't do anything...no, it's not that I can't. I won't do anything about it, even if this arm does rightfully belong to someone else. It's mine now, after all.

As long as the more important functions are retained, is it really an interesting line of inquiry?

[Oh - she recognizes that voice.]

Interesting to me, at the very least.

...I'd say "welcome back," but that seems like an unusual thing to say.

You always were a curious girl.

[And the slight pause here? That's because he's glad to find you're still here, former fake child.] The sentiment is nevertheless appreciated.

In that case, you're welcome.

Have you been well? Aside from finding yourself in Mayfield again, anyway.

[Your bird's sitting on the floor next to you, Satori! Looking up at the arm in question. A bird's face wasn't exactly the most expressive thing, but her thoughts are clear--they're mostly confused little clouds and curious bubbles.

Occasionally another thought ambles by--a feather is itching here or over there or so on, but for the most part this is a mind with a single track.]

It looks like your arm, master!

It does, but I still have my suspicions.

[She reaches over and scratches one of Okuu's itches.]

It's nice having two hands again, regardless of circumstance.

[Instant fluffbird! Okuu coos a bit, and her thoughts turn from perplexed to content and a bit fuzzy.

A few of her body feathers come out and off to decorate Satori's fingers, though.]

[Satori chuckles softly.]

You're a good girl, Okuu. I'm glad...I'm glad you're here with me.

... I suppose living in Old Hell gives you a different perspective on matters like this.

It's a basic rule of survival. Take what you can. Even if this does belong to someone else, they're obviously not using it anymore, so I'll use it in their stead.

I'll admit it's not the nicest of possibilities.

Well I suppose that works for you.

It's as I said. An arm is an arm. It'll do the same things and wind up in the same place regardless of whose shoulder it's attached to.
