so I watched Religulous with Bill Mahr in it yesterday. It was pretty interesting - makes me kind of wish I took a religion class that didn't just talk about christianity. I went to a religious college and all of my classes on religion only focused on one religion :p ( Read more... )

Oh darlin', that one is tough. I don't believe in heaven or hell, personally. I think of the spirits of people and animals and things as being a finite resource, like... like the carbon cycle. Spirits have to be released to rejoin the world, and will come out differently the next time they are expressed. So, just as you can scatter ashes across a field and smile at the daisies that grow there next year, I smile out at the world and know that someone may have passed on, but their spirit went toward the making of new babies, new cats and dogs and horses and fireflies, new daisies and butterflies...

Recycling a finite and infinitely precious resource. If that makes any sense to you at all!

Part of what I believe is that every person finds their own truth, because it is fundamentally unknowable ( ... )

I have some ideas about what happens after you die, but I don't think that any 1 religion has it all right OR all wrong. I think there are kernals of truth everywhere, but the big picture is too big for us to see all at once.
