Orlando, day 4
Day 4 in Orlando was to be a Big Deal. It was the first full day that everybody in the party was there, and we planning to visit the Magic Kingdom, which is what the core DisneyWorld park is called, now that there are secondary parks, and you can't just call it "DisneyWorld" anymore. Orlando, day 3
On the third day, we had company, but things were kind of uneventful. Elora's mother and her friend joined us, and we went back to Epcot. Elora's Mom had purchased her tickets in advance, without the park-hopper, so Epcot was the only option, although that wasn't really a problem. Orlando, day 2
Saturday in Orlando, we were still on our own for most of the day, as Elora's family members hadn't arrived yet. So our big plan was to try to hit two parks in one day, taking advantage of our Disney "park hopper" passes. For the morning, that meant Disney Hollywood Studios, the newest Disney park. Orlando, day 1

Suspension of service
Well, I had a nice post or two written up about what we're doing in Orlando, but LiveJournal's new mobile version decided to eat them instead of posting. So I think I'm going to hold off until we get back. Short version: Disney is fun, it's WAY hot, and I'm looking forward to the space center tomorrow. -

We're down here in Orlando, doing the Disney thing as our vacation this year. In point of fact, this was my mother-in-law's idea, but we figure now is as good a time as any to take Sparky, so here we are. We got in this afternoon, and went over to Epcot for dinner. I'm going to do something this week that I haven't done in years...I'm going to take a vacation without bringing my computer. Admittedly, I'm cheating because I'm going to take my phone, which is perfectly capable of accessing both e-mail and the web. Black and white and sequelly all over
Sparky and I went to see Kung Fu Panda 2 on Saturday, which we'd both been looking forward to for some time. I was curious to see if they'd pull it off, because the first movie didn't seem to leave a lot of room for a sequel. Spirit of exploration
As of today, NASA has officially given up attempts to contact the Mars Rover Spirit. They'll apparently still do some "passive listening," but they're pretty much saying that it's done, time to turn the lights off. Bigger on the Inside
It seems I have committed the cardinal sin of being the modern Doctor Who fan. I let myself get carried away with my expectations, and on top of that I forgot that modern Who isn't being written for the old-school fans with decades of continuity at their fingertips, or at least not entirely for them.
