Hey, did anyone watch The (we're-NBC-and-desperate-for-something-funnier-than-Joey-so-let's-rip-off-the-Brits) Office last night? I was going to watch for the sake of giving it a fair shot but I instead went out and played UNO at a bar. Don't ask. Instead, answer. Did anyone watch it? Was it semi-decent? I saw it a few months ago when a torrent leaked on the web. The pilot is a carbon copy of the British version, and, if you saw the Rick Gervais one, it absolutely pales in comparison. What was so endearing about the British show was that most of the characters acted in a raw and naturalistic way, like how they were obviously mugging in front of the camera. I don't like the Tim knockoff, whose longing for the Dawn character is the only soft spot in the show. He is clearly better looking than Martin Freeman, which sort of diminishes his everyman character with a dead-end job status. In my opinion, Freeman has no equal in the bulging-eye, hair-ruffling act, which his doppelganger tries desperately to emulate.

But that was my reaction from watching the first episode. I hear the other ones are more original.

And.. I'm at work, so I guess I have to get back to it.

I hate it when remakes are carbon copy remakes. There's no way that Ricky Gervais can be done better. I was hoping they'd put some sort of American spin on it to keep to the initial premise but give it some unique flavor.

Man, Ricky Gervais... I need to turn on BBC America now. Have fun at work (if that's possible).
