Thank you for everyone's suggestions and input, we've finally come up with a new voting strategy which should work for everyone.
First things first, I'd like you all to meet our new mod
_gentlycollapse. As well as being a regular participant of this competition she also has experience in judging fiction as she is a fanfic mod on a forum which regularly runs writing challenges. Why is this relevant you ask? Well it's all part of the new voting system...
- A poll will be posted, as usual, on Wednesday nights and close on the weekends, but you will now be able to vote for as many drabbles as you like. You're still not allowed to vote for yourself or get others to vote for you.
- We (
vands88,
eatmywords09 and
_gentlycollapse) will then discuss which of the drabbles we think most deserves to win and why, taking into account your votes.
- If one of the mods entered the challenge they cannot vote for their drabbles. Only 2 mods out of the 3 can enter each week.
- We will judge entries on things like spelling/grammar, characterisation, originality, and how entertaining it is to read. For all of the drabbles that land places we will explain why we liked them and why we think they deserved that place. We will try our best not to be biased but as we'll have your votes and the input of two other mods it should be reasonably fair.
- If you feel strongly about a certain piece of fiction, feel free to leave a comment to the current voting post and we'll take it into account. Comments from now on will be screened.
- Please remember that your vote in the poll is still very important! We like to know what you think, and it can help us judge the entries. :-)
I'm sure I've forgotten something so this post will no doubt be edited, but is everyone happy with the idea? Questions are more than welcome, it's better to find flaws now than later. :-)
