[[semi-locked to a_worry_wort; others welcome, but naturally they'd have to knock at the front door first, or call. Evening after his talk with superman_deadRussell sat crosslegged on his bed with a legal pad balanced on one knee, a pen between his teeth, and a pencil behind his ear as he flipped through another book, frowning in concentration as he skimmed over the pages ( Read more... )

I have sitting next to me "The Herb Book" by John Lust (I'm in the process of typing up herbal abortificants...yes, making teas to cause miscarriage...because while it poses risks it's better than coat hangers, and I'm thinking this is knowledge that should start circulating on the net NOW, as opposed to when they remove these herbs from the shelves ( ... )

Neither Ed or Riza are bipolar, so that's not a concern. (It was thought at first that Ed might be bipolar, but nah. Poor guy's just heavily depressed, and the mania fits aren't anything more than sheer desperation and a bit of that old determination kicking back up briefly.)

Kava-kava isn't something that'd be familiar to Russell at all, so I didn't touch on it, and while I'm neutral on the marijuana legality issue, I didn't feel that'd be a good thing to include, especially with there being minors in the game. (someone else I know who supports the legalization of MJ is ka_crow - you might like her.)

Mnemonic triggers do play a part in aromatherapy but aren't the only factor. Ed would probably do better with apples, although the aromatherapy's being given to Riza, something to add to her bubble baths that won't seem like medication (since she is resisting the idea of taking drugs for this.)

cool. Actually what you wrote was really interesting...most of my connection into this stuff is because my aunt was a midwife/herbalist and I sort of fell heir to all her stuff, there has always been someone in the family to keep this type of information. Diet based stuff has not been introduced into the family book that much, because well...they were country people in Ireland and Scotland and then country people in the Appalachias and you pretty much eat what you can catch and grow...most food stuffs are used actualy for poutices and stuff! I've added some info to the book myself a while back about omega 3 oils (purslane, which is a weed/vegetable..has the highest level of omega 3s and does NOT make you burp fishy taste, thank god.. It's great in salads.) and thier benefit of depression and bi polar and other psych/neruo issues.
