SUPPLEMENTAL EDITION

It has come to my attention that Lidice is a reference a little more obscure than the Editor had originally thought. I apologize for any lack of funny it may have caused.

Bit it's the perfect reference. And I swear it's an important event. Just, apparently, not important enough.

It probably gets overshadowed by concentration camps. If you go to someones house and kill them its small news, but if you bring 4 million people to your house and kill them, its slightly bigger.

That's part of it. I mean, it does kind of get drowned out--a few hundred people in a war that cost, what, 50 million lives, all told? More?

But at the same time it's the most egregious vengeance killing of the whole war.

um, DUH. I think you forgot your audience. :)

I do appreciate the link, though! Now I learned something.

I genuinely thought it was more well known. I didn't forget my audience, I forgot myself.

Did you read that the Marines have cut of Lidice-- I mean, Falluja?

Clearly we've figured out that there is nothing better to win the hearts and minds of the arab world than blanket closures of cities which we will then pummel. Brilliant.
