has anyone taken Ming Jian for any asian studies/chinese courses? i can't find him on any professor rating sites, and i plan to take 2 of his courses. so, any feedback? thanks
I took him for an online class, and he was an excellent professor. The work was challenging and interesting.
As a note, though--he was always listed as my professor for my Chinese language classes, but they were taught by an adjunct. An awesome, wonderful adjunct (how rare), but an adjunct nonetheless.
ok thanks! yea, one of the classes i plan to take him for is online, the other is not. by the way, do you think the work was too extensive for a last semester student?
Is this the Chinese culture class? If it is, we had to read (well, I skimmed) one chapter a week and write a page-or-so response. Tests (I think there were three) were either multiple choice or essay questions, and you have to write a three to five final page paper on just about anything to do with Chinese culture--I wrote mine on Chinese food. You definitely have to keep on top of things, as its not an easy course, but if you're interested in the subject it's no biggie. I took it during my senior year and was taking five other classes and didn't have a problem, but then, I'm kind of a nerd so I might be the wrong one to ask. :)
i think i had him for asain and american cross cultural communications. im pretty sure. it was an awesome class..and he was really helpful. the work was hard, but interesting.
