You should come over to my house sometime (Yes my house, not my dorm) and watch the original. I only have the PAL version which is why I need the VCR from my house to watch it. It's like a million times better than anything Peter Jackson could do.
I have to disagree with you. I've seen the original, and in it, it makes Kong out to be a villain. Fay Wray is scared of him, etc. In this, he's just a really big gorilla, and Naomi Watts actually doesnt want to see him die. She tries to protect him as best she can... it's a very powerful and tragic film.
