I decided to see you open a champagne bottle with that sabre of yours that I saw on the Steampunk community and was reminded about something that I said a few dozen times.

There are no funny Saturday morning cartoons anymore, in fact, any remotely decent cartoons (the new TMNT series) are on Sunday morning. Which is ridiculous!! If kids aren't being pulled to church they're sleeping in. Saturday should be the only time for cartoons in the morning.

And Darkwing Duck is one of my favorite cartoon shows of all time.

DW not only kicks ass, I also realised that the humour and jokes are top notch as well. You have all the silly "Look-he-slipped-on-a-banana-peel!"-jokes that kids like but you also have the really clever references that only older people would appreciate, like the Stooges or the episode "Can't Bayou Love".

That's the thing about many of the "old school" cartoon shows. They have a great appeal to the older crowds by including such classic references. I think the writers and creators understood that without people like The Three Stooges there would be no industry for cartoons or comedy. While they are paying the classic shows homage they are also introducing kids to genres and areas that they would otherwise remain unfamiliar with.
