Technical Details:
I saw this picture in Quiltmaker magazine and I love the evil kitty border! I'm going to make my own version in Halloween fabrics with the same border but with plain black fabric for the setting squares and triangles... quilted in spiderwebs, of course.
The focus fabric I found for the center has really large people on it (in costume, of course) so I think I will make the center of the star in larger diamonds than the rest of it.

Basted this quilt. This was more difficult than it sounds- I had planned to baste it the night before but couldn't figure out how to get it to lay flat without wrinkling. I kept trying to remember how I got
anyone lived in a pretty how town to lay flat... and then I remembered.
I pinned it to the carpet.
So- pin this one to the... oh. Carpet all gone- bye, bye.
After a day's worth of consideration, I ended up cutting the backing down to the size it needed to be and taping it down with flooring tape. I didn't get it perfectly centered- I hope it doesn't draw up too much in the quilting since I've only got about two spare inches on two sides.

Quilting pattern for the evil kitty border! The design is from the handle of my Starbucks pumpkin coffee cup... although it makes me think of the line from the song "This is Halloween"- I am the wind blowing in your hair...
So I don't loose it again!
July 18, 2011:
Finished quilting the star and started the spiderwebs. Emily has a brillient idea to quilt my signature into one of the webs a la Charlotte's Web.
December 23 2011:
Finished the two inner borders (those pumpkins took a long time!) and have half of one side of the evil kitty boarder done. I don't think I will finish it before New Year's but I'll come so close as to scare it. I'd probably have managed it if Mom hadn't fallen and I hadn't had a couple of sick cats and lots extra to take care of in the tail end of the year.

Finished the quilting... only the binding left now!
And Done!!
