The rain blurred his vision as he maneuvered the muddy terrain. The unfamiliar landscape was confusing. He kept moving. The noise of the water hitting the earth masked his movements. Echoes of "Logan's Run", echoes of "Shawshank Redemption", echoes of a tale yet untold. What makes this worth reading is that even without any kind of background or backstory, you've still given us enough to spark a flame of interest. Nothing ever tastes as sweet as freedom.

I agree with dslartoo! Definitely makes me think of "Shawshenk Redemption" and also "Les Miserables" in a way. I love your last line about the dirty wet air being the best smell on earth.
