The Saudis have been producing more in defiance of OPEC. We have been using less. More gas+ less demand= lower prices.

Enjoy. It won't last.

I'm enjoying it but I know it will shoot up in no time again. If fact OPEC plans on cutting production if they haven't already. They don't like it when the cost per gallon goes down even though we do.

My wallet is a bit happier at the mo.

Gas prices are generally around 30 cents higher in this region than the national average; one of our legislators (can't remember whether it was state senate or US senate) finally went to the FTC and prices fell 30 cents overnight. We're still paying well over $2.00, though.

I don't pay much attention to gas prices, but am fairly happy that my last trip to the gas station was under $8. For Premium.

Yes, I definitely remember reeling at $1.87 back in 2001 or so. I also remember being in high school in 1998 and filling at at $0.79 per gallon (OOOhhh, the good ol' days). The other day, I filled up at $1.81 and wanted to kiss the gas pump.

You know something else that's funny? In the past year, I've lost about 120lbs, and since I drive the same car, I can see the difference it makes in my MPG...which is a good 2 miles or so. It's simple science, sure, it's just crazy to think about.

Do you work in NYC? Would public transit be cheaper or more expensive for you?

Hi there!

I don't actually work IN NYC. I work in Union, which is very close, but not quite there. I'd have to drive to the train station, change trains in Long Branch, then again in Rahway. It might actually be cheaper in the long run, but a buttload more hassle. And I'd only be saving a few bucks. :(
