well, this past week has been quite a bit like the last. Except for wednesday, when i slashed my arm with a box cutter. It's not really as bad as it sounds, but for those of you with weak stomachs, I'll ( cut the details anyway )

DOn't see X-men III. If you must see it, you can definitely wait for DVD. There's nothing remotely spectacular about it except maybe one gratuitous scene involving a famous bridge. But that's not that spectacular, either. It's just a bad movie. I highly recommend that you take my word on it, and do what I have done with the third Godfather - accept that it cheapens the first two movies and don't sully their memory with it.

is it worth $3 just to see it in a proper theater? (i.e. wait for it to hit university mall since there's no Jeff anymore). Or is it just so bad that I should try and download it?

Download it, but only with absolute minimal expenditure of energy. Seriously, it's just bad.

I think you may have misinterpreted my position on this. My answer to both your quesitons is no. Don't see it. Don't use up the bandwidth, don't spend 2 hours of your life viewing it. It is a terrible, horrible very bad, no good movie.
