I've actually heard of this, and heard that they did that with the Johnny Utah role. I would love to see this.

Thank God for fringe theater. I'm serious. I'd rather see this than the latest Tony-winner any night of the week.

Funny you should say that. wwolfe November 9 2007, 16:23:46 UTC
Here's another excerpt from the LA Times article:

Hatched as a drunken bet between former film programmer Jaime Keeling and theater director Jamie Hook, their mission was nothing short of reinventing theater and bringing it to the masses.

"Theater has gone down a dead path for too many years. We need to restore it to its rightful place," Keeling says. "People are tired of August Wilson clones mumbling about the meaning of life. People want action. The problem with most theater is that we've let Hollywood steal our audience. We need to put action back on the stage, where it belongs."

I don't think there was ever a more apt use of the word "DUDE" than in response to this LJ entry.

Anyway, is this still running? Every night? What time? How much? Could I ASK any more questions? (Guess so...)

Natalie and I think it would be the greatest idea EVER to go see this. We also think they should let girls be Johnny Utah. *nods*

According to this web site:

...it's still running.

I'd call information for the 213 area code and get the number for Charlie O's.

Oh, my gosh, this sounds awesome. I'd love to try to catch this when I'm down South again...which should be soon.

Apparently Edgar Wright took Kathryn Bigelow to see it. thecuckoo November 8 2007, 21:52:16 UTC
And she dug it mightily.

So I figure it's worth seeing. If you're on that side of the continent, anyway.
