Aug 29, 2007 11:41

My daughter's mother-in-law is doing a baby shower for my daughter in honor of the second baby. I have never heard of that....or am I hopelessly behind in the times??? Ah well. I will be gone a week. I fly tomorrow and will fly home next week. At least I get to see sweetiepie and my daughter. I hate to fly but everyone in the family seems to ( Read more... )

Georgia, I will be flying into Atlanta airport. That place is so huge! Just finished talking with my daughter and we are all set on when/where they will pick me up.

I haven't heard of that either. Sometimes you throw second shower if there like a huge time between babies. Have fun!

My granddaughter is almost eight years old. So yeah, it has been a long time.
Once I get off the damn plane, you bet I will have fun!!

Yes, that could be the reason because it has been 8 years, that is not unheard of but I bet I can do you one better. Have you ever heard of a baby shower for a man??? Tell me after you read this that my in-laws like me okay. When we got married the ladies I worked with gave me a shower, my side of the family had a shower for me. Hubby's side of the family, who found fault with all of the wedding plans decided they would throw a wedding shower for him. It wasn't really a bad idea I mean I was invited at least*lol* They got him trash cans, a portable grill, things we needed that normally you wouldn't give to a woman for a bridal shower. It was cute and I really didn't mind. He was upset that they did it though. It had always been a joke between the two of us. So when I got pregnant, my mother jokingly said to me "let me see them try to give him on this occasion." Well.......they did. My sister-in-law called me and told me they wanted to have the shower but they wanted it to be for hubby, they thought he was feeling left out. Hmmmmmmm ( ... )

A baby shower for a man.....hmmm. No, it just does not fit. What did they give him.....shoes to walk the floor at night?? The groom shower I have heard of before. It is cute and can be very practical. But baby????? From this I guess that your relationship with them is like walking on egg shells...tough.
My father in law actually did not speak to me for two years. If I brought the kids over to visit them he would sit in the attic until I was gone. If hubby brought the kids he would at least say hi to him. The kids could not understand why grandpa hid from them. Stupid old man. Finally two years later at Xmas, he got drunk and talked to us! Acted like nothing had happened. Twit! I could barely tolerate him after that.

I've heard of baby showers although its not something we do here in the UK. Don't you buy presents and things for the baby? I'm not keen on flying either but once I'm in the air, I'm okay and just forget about the fact that I'm on a plane! One good thing about your flight is that with that distance you'll be landing before you know it! I hope you have a nice time.

Yeah, gifts are for the new baby. Usually a baby shower is given only for the 1st only. Most people do not need two cribs, high-chairs, etc. In my daughters a shower for the second is because it has been almost 8 years since the first.
It is only a 2hour 15minute flight. Barely enough time to get used to being in the air. Still hate it though.
Thanks, I will have a good time at my daughters.
