Oct MR

I don't know if any of you remember my first event. Suffice to say that I had no idea what was going on. I knew only one person, and only slightly. I knew nothing about the rules, the realm, characters, fighting, the site- anything. It resulted in me sitting at the fire pit in site 6 sobbing hysterically that I wanted to go home and no one would ( Read more... )

Crap. After all this time I was REALLY hoping it would have settled down.

Don't know what to say except that if you're not going to be at Realms, want to take the day off on Tuesday and hang out in Philly with some friends? I don't promise amazing thrills, but at the least there'll be the Reading Terminal, Old City and maybe Greek food at that place on South Street.

I haven't decided if I'm going, we'll see. I'd love to hit Philly again at some point also, I'm hoping to be employed by then so I'll have to see what's going on.

I'm hoping to get my hands on final notes on how stuff works and try to learn enough to get through the event. I had two new druids this month and couldn't help them.

I'm expecting to be completely lost at MR...and it will still suck less than NERO. (Jesusfuckingchrist, check my most recent LJ entry.) At the very least, there will be puzzles to solve and NPCs with whom one may interact and politics to plow through. There will be no creepy dudes hanging on me. Almost everyone wears deodorant. There will be entertainment. The Inn has walls. People will not blink in and out of character in the most populated areas of town. The NPCs will take their hits. There will be a story beyond just the bossfight ( ... )

Don't get frustrated. When I play Damia I have to use a cheat sheet for pretty much every spell I cast still, which is part of the reason why I stuck to playing Nic alot (seeing as most melee things are mostly the same). I still don't know spell durations or mana costs of alot of things. The important thing is no one is going to be upset or mad with you if you get the mana cost or duration of a spell wrong, and if they do they're an ass and should kindly GTFO of our game. We went from a game with what, 150 skills to several hunderd. Its harder for us older folks to learn because we have the old system down, and may have lived through several write ups of the Common skills rules. If we were a new generation and had to learn this system it'd probably be so much easier ( ... )

Part of the problem is that I had a cheat sheet. Apparently the downloads are inaccurate in spots, so my cheat sheet is wrong. And I'm tired of people doing stuff how they think it works. It caused enough trouble back when most of us knew the right way.
