Outrage Over Military Healthcare Cuts

Feb 18, 2009 15:34

Today I was reading a bulletin written by a friend of mine who is a Navy wife. Basically she was forwarding and letting others know about a proposed healthcare cut for active duty military and retirees where they would have to pay 50% of the costs. Right now I have Tricare Prime and I don't pay a dime expect on medications.

Military & Military retirees: read it, check Snopes (if you must) & contact your elected representatives. )

I have to agree with you there. Is it really that hard to pay fifty percent? When there are people who can't afford any health care at all? Would it be so bad that some of the money goes to those who need it more than we do?

have you looked at your medical bills when they come in? I've looked at ours, and 50% is more than we can do. 25, or 10, yes, but 50, no.

I have known vets who don't get any health coverage at all -- it startles me to hear people act as though it's new.

I know that I am too bitter about health insurance in general to look at this objectively. But if I only had to pay 50%, I would be dancing for joy.

I had figured you'd feel that way. I can only imagine the piles of bills that have been around you. *hug* It's sad when people don't get coverage. Iceland and Canada have coverage for all of their people. Also less crime. Funny link huh?

People don't like to be reminded of those who are without. When Mardi Gras season came around last year the city of New Orleans basically issued a banishment for all homeless people. Of which there are hundreds because of the hurricane. The police went through all of the street and evicted people from their cardboard shelters so that the rest of the world wouldn't see the ugly underbelly.

I was so furious.
