Paul Oakenfold -classic Junior Senior - Danish or Dutch ( something like that) duo. Poppy light wacky stuff. Move Your Feet was their radio hit over here. VNV Nation - Darker, more industrial sound. One of my perennial favorites. Epicenter and Beloved are some faves. Sonique - Has been a fave of mine for YEARS. ATC - Again, poppy sound but fun. ATB - Not to be cofused with ATC - Check out "Renegade " feat. Heather Nova.
Errm... I've got more but I can't think of anything off the top of my head. I'll see if I can't compile some stuff and put it up for d/l tonight.
Ah geez, got distracted last night and couldn't find the USB cord for my portable hard drive ( which is a tragedy because it's got ALL my music on it) I'll be home a little early tonight so I'll see what I can do then. Sorry! :P
Techno... as in rave-inspired remixes or dance or electronica or trance? hmmm... (okay went to iTunes & checked them out) the one cd I have that has a good compilation of stuff is actually from W hotels (crazy, huh?) but try Paul Oakenfold (Faster Kill Pussycat is a pop tune) I like the Chemical Bros, Thievery Corporation, Moby Daft Punk is another to consider usually tho' the best bet is trying compilations 'cause most artists do one-off songs - I think a euro-inspired dance mix cd would be a pretty good bet.
I was told what I was listening to was "House" and "Trance" because those were the easiest to start out with. I honestly don't know the difference yet. Thank you 8)
honestly I am not too sure about the different genres either... the only thing that seems to differentiate them for me is the overall BPM of any song. Which is the only real reason (other than putting together 'workout' music) that I can see for the BPM info given in iTunes 'Get Info' option.
i'm glad you asked about this 'cause I'm really enjoying listening to the "Trance Tuesday" podcast (free) (sigh) It's making me feel nostalgic - I had a boyfriend who LOVED the NorCal raves (circa '92-'93) and knew a bunch of DJs - never went with him but definately took up the muscial appreciation :)
