If you have issues with religion, keep yourself out of the church social circle. I personally think that church is just a show, other people know you went and perhaps that might make you feel better. Especially when we were young, I think it was forced upon us rather than it being a conscious choice. Faith is more personal, because once you start getting groups in, clergymen begin to think more of the maintenance of their church rather than the people inside of it. Religion in practice may be hypocritical, but in theory it's still beautiful.
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here but I'll try and respond accordingly, based on my interpretation.
Church IS just a show. I resort to my "faith" instead of having to deal with the bullshit involved with actually participating in the diocese. Religion is beautiful, you're right, but people have forgotten what it's all about.
I haven't been to church in quite some time...and when I have, it was mainly because someone had passed away.
I just reread my comment and I think it sounds sort of standoffish, but I was trying to say that I agree. It's very frustrating to attend and just see people who don't care going. I haven't been in a while, nor do I want to go until I feel as if I can go and not care who sees me, while recognizing that I'm there because I want to. Mainly, what's the point of going to church if you're not going to pay rapt attention and sing along with the songs? Any background motivation sort of ruins it, and the entire structure of catholic school ruins catholicism. Forcing someone into it makes it that much longer to appreciate what was there in front of everyone's faces the entire time.
You know what I think? I think you should print this up and give it to your priest aquaintence. I'm sure that he'd find it most interesting. If you do then let me know so I can watch. I'd like to see that.
And in my own not quite so humble opinion, I also think that you can't stop thinking about what Nickee said for a reason. Toss that around for a bit. Also remember that she's your friend and just trying to help. Don't forget that even if things don't work out for you with this thing.
I think that you took my comment a little to literally. I said to show it to Father Chump Ass because it would be hilarious to watch his face.
And I totally agree with you on most of the things you say. My personal opinion is that God doesn't judge you based on a money number that you've given to the church. If it was true, does that mean that those people who can't give 300 bucks aren't going to Heaven? That's crap and so is what's in Father Chump Ass's head.
I think you're being a little to defenseive right now about all of this stuff. I'm not really disagreeing with ya.
