I'm finally taking the time to read/re-read this and I'm really amazed how much it has grown in detail. With this chapter you've managed to show something in fic that I don't think I've ever seen quite this well - their intellectual rivalry that inevitably turns into admiration is something people mention very often, but no one ever takes the time to show it in such detail. It's a delight to watch it evolve for the first time.

Thanks! I mean, it /had/ to develop like that to get to a postable state. And re: that rivalry--> admiration thing, in a way I think it does function as Rift-fic despite its AU status--building the relationship and establishing how it was rent.
