“I’ll show you impressive when I can move again,” :D brilliant
I was half afraid you'd kill everyone off. :p But no, it's a happy ending!
aaawwww, this is so sickeningly sweet and happy ! :D (there's even a ring! And wedding banter! AND the companions come to stay. If the fic were any less well written and funny and still somehow part of a cliché challenge this would be absolutely terrible. As it is, though, it's absolutely great and wonderful - and I demand that you start writing more Five/Ainley ASAP :D )
No one writes shagged out!Ainley! IT IS TIME! FIVE-TOPPING TIME! AT LAST!
...seriously I cannot think of another Five-Topping Fic, other than gritsinmisery's excellent sort-of-topping one.
Oh man that would have been a let down--"everyone was crushed by falling Daleks. The End." Surely you guys had suffered through 70,000 odd words for ore than that!

It is done and it is awesome! I love Tegan, and Brax, and the mentions of Romana, and Nyssa, and everyone and everything FOREVER. But mostly I love Tegan and Brax's scenes. No, wait, and everything else too. I'm having some issues trying to single things out for praise, I guess?
My absolute favorite thing though, no, seriously, is the awesome power dynamic you've created between the Master and the Doctor. It's interesting and well-developed, and I'd love to see it explored more.
After all the falderal, I'm kinda fond of this sill universe. I'm sort of considering very eventually writing a sequel with this universe's five and Ainley, and a more 'our' recognizable universe's Eight and Jacobi!Master, circa the Time War. The problem is that I recently realized that in my outline for that, I was stealing a central plot element from /myself/, specifically from my own half-finished Marriage Crack sequel. x_x So maybe I'd write that before any sequel, so I can be sure it gets a fair hearing, rather than being introduced as Crane Wife's leftovers.
Well, at least you're stealing from yourself, rather than anyone else. P. G. Wodehouse stole from himself all the time, though I suppose you'd have to if you were writing ten books a year.
Anyway, glad to hear there's a maybe future sequel in the works.
This is definitely one of the most fantastic fics on lj. I've been following it since about Christmas, but, being a shy person, have failed to delurk. However, now that it is done, I feel that it is probably appropriate to delurk to express my extreme appreciation that you have given Five and Ainley!Master a) wonderful, lovely fic and b) an amazingly sweet happy ending? Anyways. Your fic is completely amazing and awesome and funny. You took such a cracky principle and rationalized it without going dark or over the top! And every time I read your prose I turn practically green with envy because it's so /good/. Seriously, you have great rhythm/flow and excellent word choice and it's just all so great. (On a more shallow note, I loved all the allusions to past events/show canon/random other things in the last chapter in particular, because they were awesome). You've also really captured their voices perfectly! And at the end, the speech you have Five give about how the fact that their love isn’t unconditional doesn’t make it
( ... )
Awh, lovely! You're extremely welcome! This ending is sooooo sugary, but I don't even properly care, I feel like the characters, the readers, and I all earned it, based on sheer bloody length and the amount of angst endured prior to the Happy.
I have a deep love for a cracky premise, and really enjoyed exploring this one. :)
And I /do/ think the bit about the Doctor not /not/ loving him is important, and too rarely explored in fic?
Weeeeeell, maybe not in this universe, but the remix of Wonderwall and the Marriage Fic Sequel are both part done, and LONG, and have five--I'm not sure what I'm doing next, tbh.
So, um, it's kinda hard to comment on stuff I really liked because I'm afraid I'll sound insincere , But I love this whole thing. And how much do I love that Five uses the patented engagement announcing technique of conspicuously doing things with your hands until someone notices the ring?

Five is far too emotionally repressed for the OHMYGODYOUGUYS!!! post-engagement route. This is his only option!!
